New tests taken at U.S. centers on disease control say that the majority of babies in the united states dont get enough vitamin D. Even if they are breast fed they seem to lack in vitamin D. Experts say that even if babies are fed enriched formula and vitamins they still dont get what they need. Fewer than 37 percent have the recommended amount that babies should have. Lack of vitamin D can result in bone softness and even increased risk of heart disease later on in life. Vitamin D helps the immune system and is produced when exposed to sunlight. Experts say to maintain a healthy baby each one should have a recommended amount. 9 out of 10 breast fed babies dont get the vitamin D they need as a toddler and it can result in a bad immune system.
