Extra credit-Science and Novel

I am currently reading Tangerine. There are many things that have to do with science in this book. The book contains facts about tangerine trees and how they work and produce. In the book it explains how during the winter you have to freeze the trees so they stay at a 32 degrees. Anything under that will kill the tree. Some people also cover the tree with dirt until the winter is over so the tree lives along with the tangerines. One degree colder and the whole tree can die in less than a minute. Farmers sleep during the day and stay up all night protecting the trees and making sure they stay at 32 degrees or higher.
